The first of November is a special public holiday in Austria called “Allerheiligen“ followed by „Allerseelen“ on the second of November. It is a time spent with family remembering the ones who are not with us anymore. Playing the songs of Schuberts Winterreise during this time makes a lot of sense and we had the chance to do so at „Oval“ in Salzburg. Thank you to wonderful Miss Margret Stronegger for inviting us to play at this beautiful venue. This time with us Mister Mario
The day before our concert we met and rehearsed with Hans and Ingrid – we hadn‘t played our Winter Journey for some time and hadn‘t seen each other over the summer. Oh how wonderful it was to meet and play again : )...right after our rehearsal we had our „Listening Party“ of „The Schumann Songbook“, meaning that we all sat down together opened a bottle of wine, beer and/or Prosecco : ) and listened to our whole album all together for the very first time. I enjoyed every momen
We were part of this year‘s „Kultur.Sommer.Semmering“ and I was very much looking forward to playing Schubert‘s Winter Journey within this wonderful festival directed by Florian Krumpöck and Nina Sengstschmid. You know how much mathias loves trains and so as soon as he has the chance to travel by train, that‘s what he does and I kept him company : ). It takes a little bit longer than an hour to get from Vienna to „Semmering“ and while driving through this incredible landscape
We caught the early train at 7:30 from Wien Westbahnhof to Stuttgart. I arrived at the trainstation before mathias got there and I think it was the first time ever that this happenend.
I was half asleep most of the time and in between going through our setlist for tonight, chatting and listening and dancing to Miles Davis and Count Basie!Hans brought his lady of the day (his bass) and she was sitting right next to him the whole journey. I was allowed to carry her for a momen
Where do I start? Maybe at the end? After our concert Thomas Bieber invited us to his amazing home where we were surrounded by wonderful people. First of all I would like to say thank you...thank you for this feast!Thank you for the delicious wine, thank you for the „Krautfleckerl“ and thank you for inviting us to play in this wonderful castle. I/We didn’t expect this...we were all tired and a little bit stressed at the soundcheck, we arrived at around 14:30 in Waidhofen and
