Was Lia Pale macht, ist im Grunde nichts anderes als das, was im Jazz ohnehin üblich ist – vorhandenes musikalisches Material nehmen um etwas Eigenes, Neues daraus zu machen. Der einzige Unterschied besteht darin, dass sie ihre Lieder nicht aus dem Great American Songbook sondern aus dem Great European Songbook bezieht. Anders gesagt, statt George Gershwin, Irving Berlin und Cole Porter hat sie sich bis jetzt für Franz Schubert, Robert Schumann und Johannes Brahms entschieden. Und nun wird Pale ihr Repertoire mit dem Sing My Soul erweitern – als Arrangeur wird dabei wieder mathias rüegg seine detailverliebten Finger mit im Spiel haben und dieses Mal für Tobias Faulhammer an der Gitarre, Gregor Aufmesser am Bass und Dominik Fuss an der Trompete all that Händel maßschneidern. Das Sing My Soul setzt die, mit der Neudeutung vom Kunstlied begonnene Zusammenarbeit von Pale und rüegg weiter fort, und beginnt gleichzeitig, irgendwo zwischen Barock und Jazz, ein neues Kapitel.

Lia Pale does nothing else than what is usually done in Jazz anyway. By taking musical material and making it her own, she turns it to something new. The only difference is that she didn’t choose her songs from the Great American Songbook but from the Great European Songbook. In other words, instead of George Gershwin, Irving Berlin and Cole Porter, she sings songs by Franz Schubert, Robert Schumann and Johannes Brahms - all of them arranged and tailor-made by mathias rüegg. And now with the new album „Sing My Soul" Pale will expand her repertoire into the baroque era with arias and songs by Georg Friedrich Händel. This time mathias rüegg arranged Händel’s music for a new Line-up around Lia Pale - Tobias Faulhammer on guitar, Gregor Aufmesser on bass and Dominik Fuss on trumpet. Sing My Soul finds itself once more in between musical worlds and is once more tailor-made for Pale by rüegg. Sing My Soul continues their collaboration but at the same time turns the page to a new chapter, somewhere between baroque and jazz.
