Our second official Duo concert was coming up, and on Thursday round noon, after a short rehearsal, we packed our bags and went to the trainstation...I forgot my laptop but I had a lot of things on my to do list...so I went back to get it : )...once in a while I tend to forget things : ), so we took the next train, one hour later and arrived in Hallein at 6 pm. We arrived at sunset and headed straight to the Hotel and then straight to our soundcheck. „Freysitz“, the venue is
Oh what a beautiful town!!!It felt like traveling back in time…the incredible castle takes you right back to the Renaissance - unbelievable! Our venue of the night „Birdland“ is located right in the middle of this beautiful old town, at a corner of a tiny little street, you walk down the stairs and there you are - in the middle of the club surrounded by wonderful photographs of everyone who had played there!!! And I think eeeeveryone did : )! I felt blessed to get to be part
"my poet's love" I love Budapest and the Opus Jazz Club. We played our Winterjourney at Opus two years ago and I was very much looking forward to be back. We had a special guest with us or I did : ) my friend Sarah from Amsterdam was visiting me and she decided to come along, yes yes yes! „To travel is to live“ (H.C. Andersen) and if its with people you love, one can only be truly grateful! My cold got a little better and sometimes I was able to breath through my nose : ), I
"my poet's love" It was the first days of spring in Vienna and let me tell you Vienna is the most beautiful in spring : ). We had a good rehearsal the day before our show and it was the first time that we played our „poet’s love“ with Mister Fabian Rucker. And it felt as if we had been playing these tunes together all along. For me it was an extremely challenging rehearsal as well as concert because it was the first time for me that I had really really bad cold while having r
„Rotfarb“ in Uznach is a very special venue with very special people aaaand very very special food!!! The Vienna Art Orchestra had played there many times and leading lady Barbara and mathias have known each other for quite some time. Thank you Barbara for the continuing trust and support! Our hotel was in Rapperswil (15 min by car from Uznach) and I have to say this little town is absolutely charming. It has this „Riviera“ touch with the beautiful lake and the original old
To play at Porgy & Bess is always special to me…it is the place where everything started - where we played for the first time in 2013 and I remember it like it was yesterday. At this point thank you to Christoph Huber! It was our 6th time to play at Porgy, it was the 6th of November and it was my birthday : )!It was a sunny and warm!!!November day and I even had time to go for a walk before soundcheck, get ready on the outside and inside for this night : )! I was so nervous
„My Poet’s Love“ at Freiraum in St.Pölten – Jazz im Hof 2015!Thank you Caroline Berchotteau for inviting us once more and giving us the chance to play our new album at Jazz im Hof (and also for picking us up from the train station). Thomas Egger, our one - man backline and sound engineer took care of getting our set up to St.Pölten in time – as well as Hans and Ingrid - I took care of Mr. Streets bass myself, as he personally trained me how to carry his bass ladies.
Train ride with the whole band: mathias, Mario, Hans Ingrid and I, a lot of coffee and laughter...Hans and I decided on a band name for our new secret not yet founded band called „Lia lass die Maus raus“. I tell you more about it as soon as I know more : )!Mario just came back from New York - he played at the Rochester International Jazz Festival with his Interzone and I was excited to play with him again. We arrived in Spital/Drau, and couple of minutes later the incredible
The months, weeks, days before an album premiere are...well...they are crazy and they are everything at once: exciting, scary, exhausting, powerful and full of hope. mathias und I spent all of January preparing the last part of the puzzle: the staging! In between Hardo Gruber (Universal), Andy Orel (graphic designer), mathias and I we were caught up in finishing the booklet for the CD and LP.
So the day of our release concert got closer and closer and mathias had built up so
